Eblens Series

2022 Eblens Series

  1. We hold a three race GSR series (as per the Calendar).

Cash Prizes

  1. The winner of each grade is the first to cross the finish line. Prize money is awarded on the basis of the order of crossing the finishing line.
  2. For all three races, we pay normal GSR prize money. That is, for each grade we pay as follows:
    • 1st $30
    • 2nd $25
    • 3rd $20
  3. For the third race, we add on the $600 sponsorship from Eblens, equally divided across the grades, allocated in a 3, 2, 1 manner across the 1st, 2nd, and 3rdacross the line. So if there are 5 grades, we allocate $120 to each grade, with 3/6 of $120 going to 1st, 2/6 of $120 going to 2nd, and 1/6 of $120 going to 3rd. These amounts are in addition to the normal GSR prize money. So 1st prize is $30 plus $60 with 5 grades. The intent is to encourage riders to participate whether or not they are “sprinters”.

 Sprints

  1. In each race there are sprint points, which can be collected in various laps throughout the race.
  2. All grades have the same number of sprint points on offer.
  3. For the lowest grade only, there is a sprint at the end of each of four laps, with the fourth sprint also being the end of the race.
  4. For all other grades, the race is five laps with a sprint on all except the first. Similarly, the final sprint is for line honours as well as points.
  5. For each sprint, points are awarded as follows:
    • 1st 5 points
    • 2nd 4 points
    • 3rd 3 points
    • 4th 2 points
    • 5th 1 point
  6. There are no double points for the final sprint.
  7. Sprint points are “banked” immediately. That is, should a rider pull out of a race, their points are safe. In the event of a DSQ, any points are not reallocated. That rider is deemed ineligible for placing and can not carry those points forward. Points from previous, or subsequent, races stay with the rider.
  8. The sprints point winner of each grade is the rider who has accumulated the most points. The sprints point winner in each grade of each race will receive a bottle of wine.
  9. So, should a rider win all four sprints, they would receive 20 points, prize money, and a bottle of wine.

 Grading

  1. There is to be no regrading over the series. That is, riders must remain in the same grade over the series.
  2. In the event that less than five riders start the race within a grade, we limit the number of cash prizes (which is Club policy). However normal Club policy is that there should be three riders for a grade to start. That should not apply here.
  3. Clearly there is a problem if only one rider is assigned to a particular grade. By all the logic here, that rider would collect 20 points, plus prize money and a bottle of wine for each race. Hopefully that situation doesn’t arise.
  • If five or more riders start in a grade, we award cash prizes to the first three to cross the finish line. The first five in each sprint get points.
  • If only four riders start in a grade, we award cash prizes to the first two to cross the finish line. Points are awarded to each rider for each sprint.
  • If only three riders start in a grade, we award cash prizes to the first two to cross the finish line. Points are awarded to each rider for each sprint.
  • If only two riders start in a grade, we award cash prizes to only the first to cross the finish line. Points are awarded to each rider for each sprint.
  • If there is only one rider in a grade, we award cash prizes to that rider (providing s/he finishes the race). That rider collects 5 points for every sprint completed.
  1. Riders to be graded according to their most recent performances. Riders returning from a break (for whatever reason) must be put in the grade they were in previously.
  2. New riders should be graded up rather than down.
  3. Where riders are “between grades”, they should be assigned to the higher grade.

 Series Trophies

  1. After the final race, the top three points scorers will be awarded trophies. Trophies should be similar to those awarded for the KOM series and paid for out of general club funds.
  2. Unless riders are tied on points, trophies will be awarded to the top three point scorers.
  3. There is no “tie breaker”; the Club will award duplicate trophies to those winning riders with the same score.
  4. In the event of a tie, the following will apply:
    • Riders with the highest score will be awarded 1stplace trophies.
    • If there are three or more riders with this score, no further trophies will be awarded.
    • If two 1stplace trophies have been awarded, those riders on the next highest score will each be awarded 3rd place trophies. No further trophies will be awarded.
    • If only one 1stplace trophy has been awarded, those riders on the next highest score will each be awarded 2nd place trophies. If only one rider places 2nd, there will be one or more 3rdplace awards.
    • If only one rider places 1stand another 2nd, all those on the next highest score will receive a 3rd place trophy.

All members are encouraged to continue to support Eblens Subaru Glenelg if ever considering a new or used car. Eblens Subaru have now sponsored this series far in excess of ten years.
